“Rumming It” at La Descarga (VIDEO link)

I often get asked which bars are my favorites in LA. I personally have a rotating Top 3, with my Top Ten being more or less staples. Because people seem interested, I’m going to make a point of publicly declaring my favorite ones from now on – and why I like them so much.

Cana at The Doheny: Tiki, Transformed (VIDEO link)

Downtown LA newsflash: The Doheny is about to get a whole lot busier. The once exclusive (pricey) members-only drinking club is opening its doors a little wider, and inviting the rum-lovers of the world to come in. It is keeping the members-only concept, only now the annual fee is an accessible $20, and it will transform the way Angelenos think of Tiki cocktails.

At Home at Townhouse, Sherman Oaks

I often get requests from Angelenos about where to dine and drink on the “other side of the hill,” (ie: San Fernando Valley). I remember the first time I went to the Millennium Biltmore in downtown Los Angeles.  It was many years ago, and I went for afternoon tea with some girlfriends.  Just walking in feels glamorous… like you’re stepping back into a time of fancy dresses and horse carriages.  In fact, some of the earliest Oscars were…

Taco Tuesday at Spanish Kitchen

tacotuesday

If you haven’t been yet, tonight should be the night!  West Hollywood’s Spanish Kitchen presents Taco Tuesday… with a huge selection of $2 tacos. Order a few tacos, add a glass of sangria, tax & tip – and you’ve got a whole dinner for under $15!  I loved the grilled lobster; Pork Carnitas and Grilled Mesquite…

Red Carpet Oscar Viewing Parties

This Sunday, March 7, is Hollywood’s Super Bowl, the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. The show begins at 5pm PT on the ABC network, with a five-second delay in case an award winner starts offending non-liberals in the flyover states. If you’re looking to snark, snicker, laugh or cry in public, the following venues are hosting…
