Kylee Van Dillen is a self-proclaimed “college gypsy” was born and raised in New Jersey, and eventually found her way to the rent-controlled place she calls home in Southern California. After spending her first year away trapped in the frozen tundra of Boston University, and deciding that flip-flops were infinitely more comfortable than chunky black boots and J. Crew pea coats, she headed to Los Angeles. Partly for the glam-and-glitz but mostly for the weather. Armed with an apartment of IKEA furniture and a handful of credits, she was accepted into the competitive Creative Writing program at UCLA where she finally graduated wearing said flip-flops, (much to the dismay of her mother) with a degree in English.
When not serving as an alcoholic beverage creation and distribution executive (bartender), she is Carrie-Bradshaw-ing her way through various freelance projects (writer), and trying to fill her home with “grown-up” things from Restoration Hardware. From whipping up drinks at fine dining and private sponsored events, to writing about bars/restaurants, beauty catalogue blurbs and emails aimed at entertaining her friends with “real jobs,” Kylee never travels far from her computer, a bookstore, or a bar. You can find her spending half her income on Starbucks coffee and breakfast wraps, tinkering with her first novel on her MacBook, reading Real Simple magazine, or drinking expensive scotch—partly because she thinks it makes her look cool, but mostly because she likes it.
